Education Change
Education is one of the key factors in growing up. Without an education, how could one possible go anywhere in life if they don't know anything. Thats why i go to school. Everyday, i go to school for six hours to learn, and have a bright future. In South Florida, the public school system isn't exactly great. Some schools are, and the school I'm zoned for isn't really that bad. But i know that a lot of them are. If there was one thing that i could change about school, logically, I would make public school classes smaller. I personally don't really mind school. Classes can obviously be boring but its really not that bad. theres nothing that i can do about a few boring teachers, you know. I think it'd be really enjoyable at school if we had more pep rallies, and spirit days. I'm a very spirited person, so school spirit is kind of my thing. But the point of school is to get an education, the social aspect isn't that bad either.

In Three Years
In Three Years
In three years, I will be a senior in high school, sending out applications for college. The colleges I hope to attend are either University of Michigan, UNC Chapel Hill, or UCLA. These schools are all top 30 schools in the nation. So obviously, they won't be easy to get into. To be accepted to any of my choice colleges I need to have a strong GPA, high SAT and ACT scores, and plenty of extra-curricular's. Lucky for me, i have a legacy at two out of three of those schools. At University of Michigan, two of my cousins are currently students, which leaves a legacy for me. My brother will be attending UCLA in the fall, so he will hold a legacy for me there. All three of these schools have the most important factors that I see in a college. They all have great academics, killer school spirit, and good weather (I like the cold). which makes you think, why not UF? I do have Florida Prepaid. But all three schools are far from home. Which sounds bad that I want to get away from my parents, but i think being away from home is a huge factor in the college experience.

A Moment That Changed My Life
All of my life, I was thought of
as “Hayley’s little sister”, and that was okay with me. I love my big sister,
and ever since I was little, I would strive to be more like her. I would play
sports that she would play, and wear clothes that she would wear, and became
like a mini-Hayley clone. When I started playing volleyball, I played because
she played, but I fell inlove with the sport and continued playing after she
quit. But it wasn’t until my sister left home, that I became my own person.
Last year, instead of starting college right away, Hayley took a gap year
program, called Nativ, and went to Israel for nine months. That was nine months
without my big sister, my role model. But in those nine months, I grew as a
person. I started to listen to music that I found on my own, and clothes
that I liked myself, and things stopped
being about Hayley. It wasn’t like when she was home I would say “This will
make me more like my sister”, but subconsciously, I would want to be like her. But
since she was in a whole other continent, I could grow. And I did. i became incredibly close with my big
brother, and I tell him everything. Which is good, because he’s an insanely
honest person and would always call me out when I was being dumb. Without my
sister around, I was able to reach new levels in my volleyball career, by
taking my team to Junior Olympics. At first, it was a shock being able to
become my own person, instead of being under Hayley’s wing. But to me, it was a
life changing time.

Junior Olympic Medal
In
July, 2012, my volleyball team had the opportunity of a lifetime. We had a Bid
to the Junior Olympics in Columbus, Ohio and we were ready to compete. The
Junior Olympics is essentially what it sounds like, it’s the dream of all club
teams to be there, and our dream had come true. In the Junior Olympics, its not
like most tournaments, not any team could sign up to play. There was a series
of qualifying tournaments to get a bid. You start in Houstan, and must place
there. Check. Then in Atlanta, then in Orlando. Each round getting smaller and
harder. Then we qualified and we had made it to Ohio. This wasnt just a
tournament to play and win, it was a tournament to be ranked. After this
tournament, whatever you ranked, you could walk around saying “my team is number
__ in the country”. And my team was second. That’s what that medal is. It shows
what can happen with hardwork and determination. And that medal hangs in my
room, with pride, because that’s what I feel when I see it. I think it really
helps describe who I am as a person too. I am a hard-working athlete, with a
huge heart and will to win
