Junior Olympic Medal
In
July, 2012, my volleyball team had the opportunity of a lifetime. We had a Bid
to the Junior Olympics in Columbus, Ohio and we were ready to compete. The
Junior Olympics is essentially what it sounds like, it’s the dream of all club
teams to be there, and our dream had come true. In the Junior Olympics, its not
like most tournaments, not any team could sign up to play. There was a series
of qualifying tournaments to get a bid. You start in Houstan, and must place
there. Check. Then in Atlanta, then in Orlando. Each round getting smaller and
harder. Then we qualified and we had made it to Ohio. This wasnt just a
tournament to play and win, it was a tournament to be ranked. After this
tournament, whatever you ranked, you could walk around saying “my team is number
__ in the country”. And my team was second. That’s what that medal is. It shows
what can happen with hardwork and determination. And that medal hangs in my
room, with pride, because that’s what I feel when I see it. I think it really
helps describe who I am as a person too. I am a hard-working athlete, with a
huge heart and will to win
